A little bit about me
My name is Dawn and I live in Tring, Hertfordshire. I am married and we have three children.
As well as being a doula, I help out in my husband's business and volunteer at my local playgroup. When not doula-ing I like spending time outdoors, walking our two dogs Bramble and Mable. I also enjoy going on camping trips, swimming and baking.
Two of my children were born in hospital and one was a homebirth. I have also had the honour of being at the births of my two grandchildren and attending many births, whilst training and working as a midwife. In the past, I have helped as a volunteer for the charity Homestart (supporting families in need). I believe in lifelong learning and am constantly updating my knowledge by reading and keeping up-to-date with the lastest research, as well as learning through my own experiences as a doula.
I became a doula because I believe that families should be well supported during this very special, life changing event in their lives. The continuous support that a doula can offer, helps couples to feel secure and confident as they prepare to meet their new baby. Positive memories of the birth of your child are to be treasured and will stay with you forever.
I trained as a birth and postnatal Doula with Nurturing Birth in 2011 and am now a member of Doula UK. (The main organisation for Doulas in the UK) and work in accordance with their philosphy and Code of Conduct.
